UNFORGETTABLE!!!
We had our second visit to Propulsion Rafting yesterday and what a day it was, UNFORGETTABLE!!! Thanks to all the staff and especially our guide Grand Nick and our safety kayaker Luc who made sure that we were safe at all times for making it a VIP ( Very Intense Passage) experience 😉 Although the weather was on a colder side we were given wet suits to keep us warm so we were able to fully enjoy every wipeout that we requested 😉 Nick was more than happy to make sure that we got what we asked for , a fully wet run every single time . We could clearly see on the pictures that we got that the camera man never missed a single moment of us getting a literal taste of the Riviere Rouge . After returning to camp it felt good to take off the wet suits and hop in to the hot tub beer in hand. To finish our day we stopped at the Fromage & Cie that Nick recommended to experience one of the largest most diverse selections of poutines among other choices you can have in this part of Quebec. To sum it all up, just do it !!! We will be back for more !!!

Thanks to all the team, staff, crews and guides
Context: me adult male 49, son 15 years old. Classic rafting, full day.

Thanks to all the team, staff, crews and guides at propulsion Rafting. my son and I had a blast. Centre: clean, well equipped for all needs and additional bits like wet suits, shoes, anything needed to make it safe and comfortable – and nice morning coffee. Easily accessible by road. Staff at the centre are friendly, knowledgeable and efficient (no time lost !). Guide was very friendly, experienced and professional. could handle the boat, the rapids and the guest tourists :). River: Rafting Classic, 8 person boat, two x 2hrs each trip (one in morning one in afternoon.Scenery and river are very nice. We came in August so river is at lowest (and warmest) of the season but speed / volume less than early spring season (35). But we still had great twists and turns and rapids to deal with and lots of action IN the water! which is why we went!. If you are looking for more challenging extreme sports sensations and tough water conditions, the river is worth the try, but come earlier in season and check the level of water on line before booking. We will come back early July next year for bigger swells. Also, if you can come with a crew of friends that are basically the same level/ experience, and looking for same adrenaline buzz, share the same vision of the sport, it will be better for everyone. The guide and crew can then really take you places! River is same for everyone, but you can take in on and experience it in many different ways – so depending on the people in the boat, you can take on swells in a more adventurous way or more family friendly way (the guides to their credit are very attentive to the level and wishes of the clients in boat). We did a full day and were happy to sit back in the early evening around the pool and jacuuzzi and lounge for a few beers, good barbecue and meet the staff and other participants. Definitely recommend and will come back for more. Recommendation: I would suggest the guide spend more time at beginning explaining the security requirements and that before we hit the rapids all visitors get a real taste of the water by doing capsizing exercises and how to get in out of boat from the water, how to take care of yourself once you fall in the water etc. it will get everyone in right mood and also teach the basics and help everyone have a more enjoyable outting. Thanks again – John & Scott

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Class 3 to 4 rapids offer an exhilarating experience with great waves, but the activity is still suitable for beginners in good physical condition. Before setting off, you’ll receive whitewater training, and your guide will accompany you throughout the trip.

It’s preferable, but not essential. Being comfortable in the water is helpful, but if you share your concerns with your guide, they’ll be able to tailor the trip to your abilities. The important thing is to talk to your guide about it.

Rafting is suitable for a wide range of ages. Children as young as 6 can be introduced to the fun of whitewater, though it’s not possible to do so at such a young age during every part of the season. In the spring, from May through late June, we navigate high water, so participants must be 12 years or older. When the water level drops, certain routes become navigable for younger children.

Mainly to comply with the safety standards for the life jackets we use. The 150-kilogram weight limit is also a concern for the guide, who has to pull someone back into the boat if they fall overboard. We’re strong, but we have our limits too!

Propulsion has been in business since 1982, making it one of the oldest rafting companies in Quebec. Over the years, Propulsion has distinguished itself through personalized service and a stable, highly professional team of guides. With a limited capacity of just a few guests at a time, we ensure a personal experience that is a far cry from the commercial approach others might prioritize. With fewer boats on the water at any given time, the experience flows more smoothly; the wait at the mandatory safety checkpoint is shorter since boats must pass through one at a time; and upon returning to base camp, you’ll feel like part of a family rather than lost in a crowd. We could go on and on about the benefits we offer, but basically, just know that if we’ve been on the Rouge for over 40 years, it’s for a reason.

Our base camp is ideally located on the banks of the Rouge River, across from the starting point of the Sept Soeurs section—the most popular kayaking route in Quebec. Since we own the launch site, we invite you to relax on the small beach overlooking the first rapid. In addition to this idyllic setting, we have a reception chalet with a central fireplace, a bar, a gazebo with a pizzeria and outdoor fireplace, a swimming pool, a hot tub, a volleyball court, a shuffleboard court, a large terrace, hammocks, Adirondack chairs, numerous picnic tables, and a large grassy area for relaxing or playing Frisbee. And all of this is available for a luxurious post-rafting experience
